HERO of Oklahoma's Bylaws

Home Educators' Resource Organization of Oklahoma Bylaws as amended and ratified March 1, 2001

Preamble:

Recognizing the need to support families in providing a quality education for their children in a home environment, HERO of Oklahoma, enacts and adopts the following articles:

Article I: Name

The name of this network is Home Educators’ Resource Organization of Oklahoma, a.k.a. HERO of Oklahoma, HERO of OK.

Article II: Philosophy

HERO of Oklahoma is a voluntary, not-for-profit network of support groups and families dedicated to providing a quality education for their children in a home environment. Respecting that parents who choose to educate their children at home come from diverse backgrounds, HERO of Oklahoma and its group affiliates have neither membership restrictions, nor any official political, philosophical, or religious position; nor does HERO maintain any official stance on any other issue, other than the belief that parents and guardians should remain able to choose home education as a legal alternative in a child’s education.

Article III: Purpose

HERO of Oklahoma's primary purpose is to provide information concerning the many local and state educational resources available to Oklahoma home educators. We strive to work with other established networks in Oklahoma to provide information and resources for all homeschoolers in Oklahoma. As a network of homeschooling families and support groups, HERO of Oklahoma also serves the purpose of helping Oklahoma homeschooling families connect with each other.

Article IV: Operations

HERO of Oklahoma's activities are managed by a coordinator and other volunteers. HERO volunteers agree to abide by HERO of Oklahoma's bylaws.

Article V: The Website

The HERO of Oklahoma website will be maintained by the volunteer webmaster. The webmaster will have the final decision on formatting and content, provided the content is within the guidelines of the Philosophy and Purpose set forth in the HERO of Oklahoma bylaws. The Webmaster may use volunteer help at his/her discretion. The domain name and website including content are the property of HERO of Oklahoma.

Article VI: Email List Management

The Coordinator may appoint a person or persons to handle the administrative management of the email lists. The atmosphere and integrity of any lists owned by HERO shall be maintained in keeping with the guidelines set forth in the Philosophy and Purpose in the bylaws and the List Rules posted on the website. Any email lists created on behalf of HERO of Oklahoma are the property of HERO of Oklahoma and not the creator.
