PurposeHERO of Oklahoma's primary purpose is to provide information concerning the many local and state educational resources available to Oklahoma home educators. As a network of homeschooling families and support groups, HERO of Oklahoma also helps families connect with each other through our web site, gatherings, and e-mail discussion groups. PhilosophySince 1993, HERO of Oklahoma has provided a voluntary, not-for-profit network of support groups and families dedicated to providing a quality education for their children in a home environment. Respecting that parents who choose to educate their children at home come from diverse backgrounds, HERO of Oklahoma and its group affiliates have neither membership restrictions, nor any official political, philosophical, or religious position; nor does HERO maintain any stance on any other issue, other than the belief that parents and guardians should remain able to choose home education as a legal alternative. OrganizationHERO of Oklahoma operates as an association of individuals, families, and support groups, and is managed by volunteers. We operate without a profit motive according to our Bylaws as enacted March 31, 1999. |
